So wacky news hit me yesterday. I very rarely go on Facebook, though I meant to recently to reply to some messages from friends. Well I got a request for friending yesterday from a familiar first name (and it being an East Indian name, well, it wasn’t too likely to be someone else) but with an unfamiliar, very Anglo last name. Me = wtf? o_0
Indeed it is my best friend from middle school! Wowza! She was married last year in May at the courthouse, has one son and has a second baby due in November! Next summer they plan on having a traditional Indian wedding. I’m still totally flumoxed and rather stunned. It sounds like she’s happy, though (thank God!) and in a good place. And a really freaking awesomeness thing? She’s still in the Twin Cities! (UMN is where I’m applying for grad school come spring term.)
So yeah. Kind of reeling from all that.
Media entertainment stuff: Bones is a fabulous show. Mom and I are loving it and I adored the season premiere. I’m now fully caught up on all the episodes and working on making sure Mom sees the best ones.
NCIS and CSI New York are also coming back this week! I am so excited for NCIS and rather nervous, too. I love that show so much… Also looking forward to NY since at the end of last season the bar where the entire team was got shot up. =p
Criminal Minds starts again this week, too, but I’m only up to the episode “Identity” in season 3 so won’t be watching the primier all that soon. I finally met Rossi, though, so at least I’m getting caught up.
You must see 9. This is out in theatres right now and has the group of sackboy-esque sorta-voodoo-doll-looking characters. The imagery is intense, I’ll warn you now, and there’s some freaky creatures. (Oh god, why oh why is there a doll head without a jaw?) The allegory is one of my favorite themes, the whole man-machine thing is about the only apocalypse theme I can do. There’s also a lot of images related to WWII. I loved the movie, which is beautiful in a lot of ways. The textures and details are absolutely phenomenal.
Since we’ve got a few months of free Showtime, I occasionally am finding movies I’d like to watch. Already saw Along Came a Spider (good) and recorded Scream for later. I’m watching The Eye right now - so far I’m liking it.
